Tax + Trade

Federal and state tax codes are complex, and frequently change. We help clients advocate for tax and trade policies that align with their business interests. Successes have included state film tax incentive programs for the entertainment industry, modifying state corporate income tax codes, representing public utilities on tax-exempt financing, and addressing dozens of additional tax credit issues. At the federal level, we have represented clients on numerous issues, including energy tax credits, research and development tax credits, as well as broader comprehensive tax reform, including advocating for changes to the foreign tax credit, supporting a path to repatriation, and monitoring the adjustment of the corporate tax rate.

We also help domestic and foreign clients develop strategic solutions in an increasingly competitive and global marketplace. Our team is experienced in working with the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Trade Representative, the Export-Import Bank, and congressional trade committees. We have worked with several administrations to secure tariff legislation and trade deals such as the Central American Free Trade Agreement and the North American Free Trade Agreement. We also negotiated on the Trans-Pacific Partnership in representation of multinational companies.
